We are well on our way down The Final Stretch of 2026, with just two weeks of regular season action left to play.
With everything to be figured out in the West Division, there's plenty of meaningful football on tap in Week 20. Full playoff scenarios for this weekend can be found here as the teams in the West look to make the playoff picture a little more clear.
Here is one storyline to watch in every game.

WHAT DO YOU GOT, BRYSON BARNES?
TORONTO AT OTTAWA FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16 7:00 P.M. ET TSN, CFL+
Bryson Barnes will be the starting quarterback for the Ottawa REDBLACKS this week as the team hosts the Toronto Argonauts at TD Place Stadium.
Ottawa, who has yet to win a game this season, is ready to give their young quarterback a shot. Barnes signed with the REDBLACKS in May of this year, after most recently attending rookie camp with the Cleveland Browns. He played his college career at Utah State and the University of Utah and is now ready to lead the charge of a CFL team.
He'll be facing the Toronto Argonauts defence that gives up 302.5 passing yards per game, fourth most in the CFL, but they don't allow many passing touchdowns, giving up just 21 majors through the air, the least of any CFL club.
Can Barnes help the REDBLACKS secure their first win of the season?
WILL EDMONTON CLINCH THE DIVISION?
WINNIPEG AT EDMONTON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16 9:30 P.M. ET TSN, CFL+
Mark Kilam's Edmonton Elks could clinch the West Division title in their meeting with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this weekend.
With a win, the Elks would wrap up first in the West and will host the Western Final on Saturday, November 7. But, if they don't win, their hopes of winning the division aren't over. A BC loss to the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday would also clinch first place for Edmonton.
Cody Fajardo hasn't thrown a touchdown pass since Week 15, but the team was still able to win two of those three games without a major through the air. While the Elks defence and special teams have helped the Elks to victories, Fajardo will still be looking to snap that streak against a Winnipeg defence that has only allowed 25 touchdown passes so far this season.
Winnipeg is also heading into Week 20 with playoffs on their minds. A win against Edmonton or if Calgary loses against BC would mean the Blue Bombers clinch a playoff berth.
CAN THE RIDERS SNAP THEIR LOSING STREAK?
MONTREAL AT SASKATCHEWAN SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17 3:00 P.M. ET TSN, RDS, CTV, CRAVE, CFL+
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have lost their last four contests and find themselves in fourth place in the West, which is the current crossover spot.
Snapping that losing streak this week will be important, as the Riders are looking to punch their ticket to the postseason. With a win against Montreal, the Riders will need either a Winnipeg loss or a Calgary loss as well to clinch a playoff berth.
There's lots on the line this week for the Green and White, but that isn't quite the same story for the Montreal Alouettes. The Als already know they're hosting the Eastern Final on November 7 and it remains to be seen if head coach Jason Maas will start to rest some of his star players down The Final Stretch.
THE BC LIONS ARE STILL STREAKING
BC AT CALGARY SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17 7:00 P.M. ET TSN, CFL+
The later stages of the 2026 season have been almost perfect for the BC Lions, as the team has now won nine of their last 10 contests. It really is remarkable, considering where they were after the first third, sitting 1-5 and in the basement of the West Division.
Now BC sits in second in the division and all they need to do is win a game or have Winnipeg lose and they will secure a home playoff date.
BC's offence has been balanced, with Nathan Rourke and his plethora of receivers catching passes, and the two-headed monster of Zander Horvath, who is looking to tie or break Milt Stegall's touchdown record, and James Butler. Plus, the defence has locked in, allowing just 25.0 offensive points per game (only Edmonton allows less at 23.8) and is the best at stopping the run, giving up just 60.8 yards per game on the ground.
The Stampeders will be a tough challenge, with Calgary desperately holding onto their playoff hopes. A team facing a must-win situation should never be taken lightly.
