We are grateful for all things CFL Fantasy presented by theScore Bet, which ends on Mobil Thanksgiving Weekend.
In the meantime, let’s feast on our CFL Fantasy rankings for Week 19.
Congrats to those who reached Championship Week, and remember, CFL Weekly Fantasy is still available for the final two weeks of the regular season.
QUARTERBACK
Nathan Rourke, BC
Davis Alexander, Montreal
Vernon Adams Jr., Calgary
Trevor Harris, Saskatchewan
Cody Fajardo, Edmonton
With a nine-game streak of at least 300 passing yards ended in Week 18, Nathan Rourke will begin anew against Ottawa and its league-worst pass defence. Davis Alexander strafed the Blue Bombers for 440 yards and comes into Week 19 with a CFL-best 34 completions of at least 30 yards. Vernon Adams Jr. is on a heater, having tossed for nine majors in his last three starts. If the O-line gives him time, VA will make things interesting in a crucial showdown at Winnipeg.
Four TD passes and 453 yards provided pre-Thanksgiving stuffing for Trevor Harris’ fantasy users. A similar effort versus the Als on Thanksgiving Day would make for a great fantasy main dish. Cody Fajardo has thrown for 658 yards in his last two starts and continues to thrive behind an underrated receiving corps.
Sleeper: McLeod Bethel-Thompson, Ottawa
There is room for a rebound after McLeod Bethel-Thompson struggled against Hamilton in Week 18. Friday's REDBLACKS-Lions matchup could become a track meet, which favours Bethel-Thompson.
RUNNING BACK
Brady Oliveira, Winnipeg
Justin Rankin, Edmonton
Stevie Scott III, Montreal
A.J. Ouellette, Saskatchewan
Zander Horvath, BC
The last time he faced the Stamps’ defence, Brady Oliveira generated 127 yards from scrimmage. Championship Week would be a great time for him to snap a four-game touchdown drought. Justin Rankin has at least 100 scrimmage yards in three of his last five games. He continues to lead the league with 15 big plays, something Hamilton’s D will be very aware of. Three straight games of at least 94 scrimmage yards make Stevie Scott III a lethal ground pounder that complements pilot Alexander of Alouette Airlines.
Game flow held A.J. Ouellette to only nine touches in Week 18, but if the Roughriders want to defend their Grey Cup title, getting Ouellette more involved down the stretch would be a start. Uh oh. James Butler averaged 7.1 yards in Week 18, looking like the Butler of old. Zander Horvath’s nose for the end zone keeps him fantasy-legit, but we could be seeing a committee in the Lions’ backfield.
Sleeper: Larry Rountree III, Hamilton
He showed that he can handle a heavy workload, recording 23 touches for a season-best 158 yards from scrimmage in Week 18. Larry Rountree III's presence as a productive back has helped key the Ticats' offence over the past three games.
RECEIVER
Tyson Philpot, Montreal
Tyler Snead, Montreal
Austin Mack, Edmonton
Kian Schaffer-Baker, Saskatchewan
Keon Hatcher Sr., BC
Jalen Philpot, Calgary
Kenny Lawler, Hamilton
Justin Hardy, Ottawa
KeeSean Johnson, Saskatchewan
Ontaria Wilson, Winnipeg
Only 265 yards separate us from viewing Tyson Philpot 2000: A Most Outstanding (Player) Odyssey, Rated PG for Pretty Great. His 16.1 yards per catch has made Tyler Snead a show stealer that carried many a fantasy team to Championship Week. After being targeted only three times in Week 15, Austin Mack’s plate has been filled with a combined 21 targets in the past two games. He’s played in only 10 games, but Kian Schaffer-Baker has crossed the century mark in four of them. Since returning to the lineup, KSB has played at an All-CFL level. Targets have not been an issue for Keon Hatcher Sr., who’s had 11 in two of his past three games and at least eight targets in three of his last four.
There is little question as to whether Jalen Philpot is the Stampeders’ REC1. He’s been targeted at least seven times in the past six games with 13 in two of his last three outings. Coming off his first 100-yard game of the season, Kenny Lawler appears to be building a rapport with Harrison Frost. Another 1,000-yard season -- his fourth straight -- is in the books for Justin Hardy, who still has time to top his career-best 97 receptions in 2024. Four straight games without a major and the return of Schaffer-Baker have cut into KeeSean Johnson’s production recently. However, you know he’s capable of a big week. Tim White leads the Blue Bombers with 74 catches, yet it’s Ontaria Wilson who has been Winnipeg’s most consistent pass-catcher for fantasy users.
Sleeper: Jermaine Jackson, BC
The last time Jermaine Jackson faced the REDBLACKS defence, he amassed 128 yards on four receptions. Jackson has developed into the REC3 in BC, and that can translate into impressive numbers when defences focus too much on Hatcher Sr. and Justin McInnis.
DEFENCE
Montreal
Edmonton
BC
Saskatchewan
Montreal has been one of the hottest defences in the league and should continue to be this weekend. The Elks’ 23 interceptions lead the league, yet it’s their CFL-best 31 tackles for loss that has helped spark the team’s turnaround. Ottawa’s -25 turnover margin makes the Lions’ D a must-start this week. Alexander will have to keep his head on a swivel looking for a dozen Green and White defenders that have recorded 32 sacks, second only to Toronto’s 38.
KICKER
Sergio Castillo, Winnipeg
José Maltos Díaz, Montreal
Vincent Blanchard, Edmonton
René Paredes, Calgary
Sergio Castillo’s 45 field goals have helped keep a Blue Bombers offence that has managed a league-low 33 majors in the thick of the playoff chase. The Alouettes’ offensive proficiency assures that José Maltos Díaz will add to his point totals by the end of the regular season. Vincent Blanchard needed a bye week to rest his leg after kicking a single-game record nine field goals in Week 17. He’s staking a claim to beat out Castillo and Maltos Díaz for All-CFL honours. We don’t have much time remaining to appreciate René Paredes, who announced his retirement on Tuesday. Going out with a bang, Paredes has connected on 38 of his 39 field goal and point-after attempts.
