TORONTO -- The BC Lions did not need a touchdown as Sean Whyte went eight-for-eight and the defence came up big late in the game to shut the door on the Toronto Argonauts in a 24-17 victory at BMO Field Saturday afternoon.
Both defences held the opposing quarterbacks under 300 yards passing. Nick Arbuckle connected with Makai Polk late in the first half for the game's first touchdown. The Argos added another touchdown, but the BC defence shut the door with the Boatmen sitting on the one-yard line in the dying seconds of the game.
The Lions' offence was led by Nathan Rourke's 254 passing yards and 50 rushing yards, but they were unable to find the end zone. James Butler and Zander Horvath were held to a combined 101 yards rushing on 20 attempts in the defensive affair.
