CALGARY - It took five lead changes and a last-gasp field goal from 62 yards out, but the Calgary Stampeders were able to defeat the Ottawa REDBLACKS on Saturday evening at McMahon Stadium.
Fighting hard for their first win of the season, the REDBLACKS must've thought they had this one sealed as Calgary stuttered on the game's final possession, but kicker Rene Paredes had other plans, as he sent the crowd into a frenzy with his winning kick.
Deonta McMahon did some damage through the ground game while Vernon Adams Jr. made a number of decisive passes to lead his team to a home win.
CFL.ca brings you three key stats from the Calgary Stampeders' win over the Ottawa REDBLACKS in Week 16.

62 - YARD WINNING FIELD GOAL
The Stampeder offence picked up just two first downs on the game's final drive and an illegible receiver penalty was no help to Paredes, setting him back 10 yards back.
But Calgary's kicker was cool as can be, sending his 62-yard field goal through the uprights as the final seconds ticked off the clock, even setting a new career-high as he helped his team to victory.
357 - VERNON ADAMS JR. PASSING YARDS
Vernon Adams Jr. looked like he was back to his best on Saturday, picking apart the Calgary defence to the tune of 357 passing yards and two touchdowns.
With his team trailing late in the second quarter, Adams Jr. delivered to Tevin Jones for a 60-yard score, putting Calgary back into the lead at the break. Down once more late in the fourth, his second passing score went to Jalen Philpot for 26 yards, forcing Calgary to answer back even later before Paredes ultimately won the game for the hosts.
126 - DEONTA MCMAHON YARDS FROM SCRIMMAGE
Star running back Dedrick Mills was placed on the six-game injured list prior to Week 16 but Calgary didn't miss a beat in the run game as Deonta McMahon did a stand-up job in place of Mills in the Stampeders' backfield.
McMahon finished with 102 yards on 15 carries and caught all three of his targets for another 24 yards. His 34-yard rush in the third quarter helped setup an eventual Quincy Vaughn score and he also picked up Calgary's final first down of the ballgame on a seven-yard run.
