Elks sign three to expanded practice roster

EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Elks have added National offensive lineman Spencer Walsh, American offensive lineman Nash Jones, and American defensive lineman Jamil Muhammad to the practice roster, the club announced Tuesday.

Walsh (six-foot-three, 294 pounds) was drafted by the Elks in the fourth round (32nd overall) in the 2026 CFL Canadian Draft, joining the club from the University of Laurier. In his four seasons with the Golden Hawks, he dressed in 26 games and was a 2025 OUA Second Team All-Star, 2024 Uteck Bowl Champion, and a 2024 Yates Cup Champion.

Jones (six-foot-four, 314 pounds) joins the Elks after an excellent collegiate career split between Texas State (2023-24) and Incarnate Word (2020-22). As a member of the Incarnate Word Cardinals, Jones was named First team All-Southland Conference in 2021 and Second team All-Southland Conference in 2022. The 24-year-old transferred to Texas State in 2024, and was an All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention and CSC Academic All-District in 2024 with the Bobcats. Following his college career, Jones was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2025 and the Denver Broncos in 2026.

Muhammad (six-foot-one, 260 pounds) adds more depth to the Green and Gold's pass rush. The 25-year-old defender has spent the last two seasons in the National Football League — first spending the 2025 season on the Los Angeles Rams practice roster. Muhammad would sign with both the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns in 2026, before becoming a free agent in August.

For his collegiate career, Muhammad was most recently a member of the USC Trojans from 2023 to 2024, where he accumulated 74 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks in 26 games.
