Start vs. Sit: 2 must-plays and who to avoid in Week 20

Congrats to the initial winners of their respective CFL Fantasy presented by theScore Bet leagues. Job well done.
Although CFL Fantasy play is over, there are still two weeks remaining in CFL Weekly Fantasy, and Week 20 gives us both the pleasure (and pain) that comes from putting together a championship-calibre lineup.
We’ll double up our Start vs. Sit, with two players you must have and two players you’ll want to avoid.
CFL WEEKLY FANTASY
START
JAMES BUTLER | RUNNING BACK | BC LIONS
The Lions brim over with fantasy talent, so much so that it’s easy to forget how good James Butler is. Zander Horvath’s nose for the end zone resulted in his emergence as BC's lead back, with Butler playing RB2. However, Butler offered us a reminder of his talent on Mobil Thanksgiving Weekend, scoring 22.1 Fantasy Points, his best showing since tallying 31.2 FP against Edmonton in Week 5.
Calgary has one of the league’s worst run defences, and BC will serve up touches for Butler against them on Saturday evening. Having both Butler and Horvath fresh makes both fantasy viable, and at $7,700, Butler is a good low-end play at either RB2 or Flex.
DAVID UNGERER III | RECEIVER | TORONTO ARGONAUTS
Damonte Coxie is a lock for an All-CFL roster spot. Tyler Kahmann is set to earn Most Outstanding Newcomer, while Kevin Mital should top 1,000 receiving yards. Dancing between the fantasy raindrops lies David Ungerer III, who is sixth with 81 receptions and sixth in the league with 1,066 yards.
Ungerer III has been an exceptional fantasy option, having scored over 30 Fantasy Points twice in his last four games. He comes off a perfect 12-for-12 in targets in Week 18, finishing with 124 yards and a major, his third in his last five. Ungerer III is a must-start this week as he faces a REDBLACKS defence that he has games this season of 17.2 FP and 30.5 FP.
SIT
DANIEL ADEBOBOYE | RUNNING BACK | OTTAWA REDBLACKS
The highlight of Daniel Adeboboye’s Mobil Thanksgiving Weekend was his first major since Week 9 and only his third of the season. He eclipsed double-digit fantasy points for only the third time in 2026, racking up 20.4 FP on the strength of 94 yards from scrimmage.
Ottawa could do worse than giving Adeboboye 13 touches. In fact, he should see more opportunities against Toronto, yet there’s too much risk in adding Adeboboye and his fantasy-friendly $6,500 salary as the REDBLACKS bid for their first win of the season.
JOSHUA CEPHUS | RECEIVER | EDMONTON ELKS
The Elks have not found a consistent REC2 to complement Austin Mack. Despite showing flashes of potential, with his 23.9 FP performance against the Stampeders in Week 15 the apex, Joshua Cephus has failed to come close to those numbers, scoring no more than 10 FP since Week 16.
Edmonton’s postseason hopes hinge on whether Cephus (or anyone else) can be the downfield playmaker they’ll need when defences lock in on Mack and Justin Rankin. At $7,000, Cephus has intriguing value but is best left on the bench for now.
